Born in 1978, Madrid. Lives and works in Madrid and Mexico City. Graduated from Escuela Tecnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid in 2006. Based on a redefinition of the possible tools, procedures and formats within architecture, Urculo's work is an investigation focused on representation and the capture-narrative of the 'invisible' that defines the space. His works have been exhibited in the Lisbon Architecture Triennale (2013), "Storefront for Art & Architecture" (New York, 2013), "YAP MAXXI 2011" (Rome, 2011), "Fabrica Features" (Lisbone, 2009), "the 11Ith International Architecture Exhibition, Venice Biennale - Spanish pavilion" (Venice, 2008) and he will have first solo exhibition at the Santiago Museum of Contemporary Art (Chile) in September, 2014.
My work has been based on a redefenition of the possible tools, procedures and formats within architecture. Mainly is an investigation focused on representation and the capture-narrative of the 'invisible' that defines the space. A work not so directly related with the gravity and weight, a value which has been a main unit to measure construction and its mediatic impasct on the last decades. Video as a tool. allows to develop pieces of diverse scale working on existing spaces or through mockups and study modles (Covers, Essay on Ruins, Dear New York) where I have tried to draw space and all that defines it.
