Seoul -Tokyo, we can come and go so easy less in 2 hours. We share so many cultural, historical, and ritual elements for long time. Korean-Japanese people play active part in all over the world. I have nice Korean friends in Japan and I could also find good friendship when I visited Kyŏngju once for the research of antique works. However we just 'know' (as a knowledge) several wars and invasions between Japan and Korea only from history books of school. Like me, the generation 'not having any experience of wars' increase. on the other hand, broadcast tells us that some aggressive Korean groups get anti-Japanese demonstration. Thinking about the relationship between Japan and Korea, I always realize that we have still serious antagonism by our complicated history that makes us confuse. Given our lives in the surfeits of information, I strongly think that one of the most important tasks will be that of selecting among the information with actually experience on each person. I have made art works throwing my body into some situation to get actually experience and bodily sense. at this time, as an artist , diving into the cities in Seoul and keeping in touch with citizen people through the research and making process, I'd like to make and show the art works about the relationship of Seoul-Tokyo which leads to the problem of Korea -Japan.
The project for converting any action of the everyday life into sculptures or performance. not just for focusing on their figures, I try to interpret physically as every experience with my body, giving the structures as art works. My art works take up various action. For me, making art works always begin from the point to think about how I should figure out as art works. It is my first concern with a theme of Action and Sculptures that we can have shapeless action remain with own new figures. For my exhibition or open studio as the residency result, I suggest installation with 4-5 pieces (videos and sculptures).
