In Kreuzberg, where the Kunstraum Bethanien is located, there are a lot of turkish immigrants living there. In one of the communities there, I learned how to use turkish coffee for fortune telling, which is a ritual in Turkey. After drinking coffee, the people look at the pattern in the bottom of the cup, and from the pattern inside, they allow their imagination to play around with the shapes suggested by them. The images and shapes created in the coffee residue provide information. I focus on the common themes at the fortune telling which help me to develop my working processes and images in painting.
