For the residency period I want to create a site-specific video installation inspired by the city of Tokyo. The final work could be an immersive video-mapping installation based on the local landscape, an architectural video projection in a public space or a performance event. It is my intention to explore methods of projecting animated video content onto buildings, objects, and structures for use in video Installation, performances and architectural public artworks. I am attracted to the historical resonance in architecture, especially in a large ancient megalopolis such as Tokyo.
-Research performing arts such Kabuki, Noh, and Bunraku theatre customs as well as Butoh dance. I hope to seek out collaborations with local performing artists, such as dancers, musicians and puppeteers.
-Research illustrative narratives found in historical art traditions, such as Emaki-mono.
-Explore the city and look for public spaces where I could create an outdoor video projection, such as a historical building or a public square or park.
-Collect field-recordings of the sounds of Tokyo
