Purpose of the residency
The stay purpose is create artworks from research of Japanese building still remain in Korea. In this program, I focus Japanese houses that have the most basic form. Those Japanese houses exist in different places at different times, always under influence of different implications: Japanese houses from the Japan colonial period in Korea, Japanese houses built for American bombardment experiments in Utah, and Japanese houses that remain in Japan. The project attempts to examine various aspects of values that architecture represent. I want to consider the distortion that occurred in process of the modernization with Korean people.
Plan during the residency
Activity plan and schedule (tentative)
[June]
First two weeks, I would like to do the research around Seoul. I would like to take the video,interview and research the story surrounding Japanese house, such as in people who are using or knowing a Japanese house.
[July]
Then, based on research results, I'd like to make a new installation in the studio MMCA Residency Goyang .
[August]
I'd like to make video installation that consist of architecture model and video in Korea.
