Purpose of the residency
My main interest in the program is to research the geological characteristics of Germany.
In the end of the Jurassic period, the shallow sea covered much of what is now Germany. Because of that, there are famous limestone mines that contain many fossils. I would like to research the places and explore the relation between ancient nature relates to the world we in. And I want to develop the way of sonificate the relation.
Besides, Berlin is one of the most active and exciting city in terms of new media art and sound art. I want to find the possibility to connect the old natural object like fossils and new technology.
Plan during the residency
In the first month, I will be in the preparation stage of the research. I will develop the way to research, searching information of the place and people.
In the second month, I am going to research more concretely and collecting materials for the work.
I would like go for the research to Solnhofen, famous town for limestone and fossils. I also going to Schwarzwald where is famous for the damage of acid rain.
Base on the research, I will develop the way to sonificate the materials.
In the last month, I will work on sound installation and exhibit it in the Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien.
In addition to main flow of research/creation process, I would like to go to the institutes, studios, and alternative spaces and communicate with researchers ,artists and organizers.
