I am planning a program that takes advantage of the rich cultural diversity of Berlin, and the chance to involve others in the Galatea-Pygmalion project. This new work is centered upon the basic human experiences that we all share in common, such as appetite and desire.
The collaborative style of the project will provide the opportunity for people to experience the nature of Mono-ha first-hand, and in a contemporary setting, and to take part in a shared experience based on the common elements that underlie our mythological narratives.
The "Galatea" series consists of large-scale sculptural works, produced using the negative form of my body. The new Galatea sculpture is an adaptation of this style, constructed so that multiple people will be able to participate the performance. Location of the sculpture I'm going to outdoors that had a public nature, such as open space in front of the Betanien.
The project will be documented, and the videos and photographs of the sculptures and performances will be shown in both Berlin and Tokyo.
