Purpose of the residency
The object of my photo is the space and the things existing in the process of the creation and destruction of cities. The creation and destruction cycle is getting shorter and shorter. Now cities are like prefabricated buildings, which can be built and demolished easily. The cities come and go, but the photos remain. What I'd like to do here is not only to record and adapt to the city I live in, but also to find out the essential of the city. This artwork will proceed in China.
Plan during the residency
I am planning to take photos of the buildings in new towns which are built using prefab architecture style. The shooting will be done at night, when the time of city stop and nobody moves. Also, through the photo shoot, I am going to make the buildings look flat, using large lights and focusing on the surface and the wall of the buildings, so that they look like thin acrylic panels. I can take photos of buildings consisting of walls and revealed frames, or just small town houses. Those buildings can be covered with fence screen, not with walls or windows.
After taking photos, I'd like to assemble the images of the walls using Photoshop, and make a kind of collage that shows the characteristics of modern multipurpose buildings and multiplex buildings. Then I will print out the images on plastic printing papers and make them filed with a wall of an exhibition hall.
