Purpose of the residency
Living in this highly mediated society, much of what's happening around the world does not feel terribly real to me. And that was what I felt when the unfortunate incident happened in Fukushima. One of the main purposed for my trip is to feel the extent of that by talking to victims of the incident and try to find out more about the aftermath of the happenings after the disaster. I will also take this opportunity to network and explore the art scene in Japan.
Plan during the residency
One of my personal goals in this residency is getting to know Tokyo on a personal level, so I plan to spend my first week of the residency travelling around tokyo, talking to people and friends I have in Tokyo. Hopefully I will be able to visit and stay in some of the houses in Tokyo as part of the research of my proposed project. Concurrently I will also start organizing interview sessions with citizens originally from Fukushima city. In the second week, I plan to start production by sourcing for electronic components and items for creating the home scenario. I hope to produce a test for this setup by the end of the week.
