I create video works focusing on my body, in the context of contemporary art. In these works, the theme of "identity" is my prime concern. After Modernism, globalism has made issues surrounding identity, central in economy, politic, and art. I would like to research about the history of immigrants and its background, and also I would like to research about the aboriginal people's history in the Australia. I hope to raise question about how people with varying nationality, race, ethnicity and culture has coexisted in the Australia, as well as how they have held on to their identities. Also, I am interested in how people who live in the Australia has expressed those issues through art, and would like to compare that with how I have handled the issues of identity in my own works, to search for a new approach towards identity in this globalised society.
In first month, I would like to do presentation for students of University. And I would like to talk with the staffs of the university and get the opinion to my project , hear the advice of the method of the research about the problem of an immigrants and aboriginal people. Then I would like to share and discuss my thoughts and processes with students and staff at Monash University. Next I am planning to visit a museum and an art museum, the library and start an investigation. I would like to talk with immigrants about their life and identity. In the second month, I will start my project "Exchanged Memory". First, I would like to make "sledge" with students of the university, It like kind of workshop. And I plan to visit the desert of Australia, I use the scene to resemble the snow of Aomori and I pull a sledge and cross the desert. I will do a performance in desert and records it on a video . In the third month, I will start my work to begun towards an exhibition in the university.
