I am carrying out two research projects at Tokyo Wonder Site, which will be site-specific to Japan. One is related to Japanese society and the other to Japanese nature.
Throughout my stay I will go and work at the 'Kotoen' elderly people's home in Tokyo. From this point of departure I hope to get an insight into the way Japan is dealing with the problems occurring due to the demographic change in modern and wealthy societies.
With the advice and support of Prof. Akiyama from the ISSP at the Tokyo University I will study two forms of bioluminescent organisms characteristic to Japan's nature: fireflies (hotaru) and sea-fireflies (umi- hotaru).
Furthermore, my purpose of staying at Tokyo Wonder Site is to learn about the Japanese culture, language and the way the art world is organized here. Hence I hope to be able to connect, meet and discuss with a lot of local creators.
