In the motif of Paris' arcade, the space where the past and present coexist; Kanako Sasaki works on the photographs and video works while blending interactions with the local females. In the ever-changing cultural city, Paris, she aims to create her works which time, history, and memory come through with a sense of floating.
Residency Program Exhibition 2009- 2010 "TOKYO STORY" Exhibition "Le Dix Neuf" (104 CENTQUATRE) OPEN ATELIER (104 CENTQUATRE) Exchange Residency Program 2009, Dispatch (Paris) While listening to episodes told by the local people, assemble the pieces of the stories. She hopes that her works will call back the moments when the process that educes the memories of each teller was lost. She also conducts the research on the history of Paris, its present form, and the theory of passages as known as Arcade Projects by Walter Benjamin.
