Born in 1990 in Gunma, Japan. Lives and works in Tokyo. Graduated with a BA in Imaging Arts & Sciences from Musashino Art University in 2009.
Intrigued by the question, “What it means when people stand in front of other people,” Takemoto is staging performances that incorporate aspects of minute sensation and movement. He has been doing such performances daily, consistently since 2017, with or without an audience.

About works

I create performances that heighten sensitivity to the environment already present in a given site, reconstructing the situation of “being here.” Through a process in which I differentiate and reconfigure my own perception and movement, the audience’s perception also begins to shift. The work aims to prompt a renewed awareness of the richness—the layers of texture and information—that exist within the familiar spaces and landscapes we ordinarily overlook.
Since 2017, I have been performing this work almost daily. Those who wish to attend may contact me directly to witness the performance. This experience—arising through private communication and personal attendance—focuses on an intimate transformation of perception and relationship, distinct from what occurs in public contexts.
