Profile

Aki Nagasaka is an artist, currently based in Osaka, Japan. Graduated from Staatliche Hochschule für Bildende Künste Städelschule, Frankfurt, Meisterschüler, 2012. She takes interests in people, objects, and events she personally encounters, and researches their cultural and historical backgrounds from many diverse perspectives. Using her own experiences, she endeavors to weave the seemingly independent and disparate research materials into a story, which explores the subject from a different perspective and implying uncertainty of the recorded histories. While having storytelling as the main medium, she expands the story into an installation with other media such as sculpture, photograph, video, sound, and performance. Along her solo projects, she participates in different collaborative projects and book projects, and does translation specializing in art texts.
