About works

Previously, his work focused on the theme of "participant/non-participant perspectives," but his interest has expanded to creating works that examine "living with the presence of war" following his residency in New York. Drawing from research on the U.S. military base in Misawa, Aomori Prefecture, he has created works such as the performance of a new play that captures the in-between sensibilities beyond the dichotomy of dominance and subjugation. In these uncertain times, his works aim to stand in the "in-between" spaces among various communities, celebrating the strength and vulnerability of those who live within ambiguity and serving as a symbol of solidarity.
