About works

Murphy’s works explore wider themes of climate, urbanisation, the body and technology through writing, scientific research and cross disciplinary collaborations. As an alumni research fellow at the Sandberg Institute; Studio for Immediate Spaces 2023 Murphy’s practice explores cities and their often invisible architectural networks, through video, text and sculptural interventions. In this process Murphy attempts to find a fragile sculptural quality in the hidden technologies that build up much of urban fabric. Murphy’s work has been exhibited at Art Rotterdam, Kunsthalle Turku, SOLU space Helsinki, Oude Kerk Amsterdam, Bologna.cc and Osage Gallery Hong Kong. His projects have been supported by Mondriaan Funds (Netherlands), Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux, Finnish Institute in Japan, Arts Promotion Centre Finland ("Taike") and SKR (Finland).
