Hollerud explores his own identity of having grown up in Japan and Norway, Japan´s strong identity as a mass production society, and printmaking as a mass production medium. These three aspects of his work often result in big room installations. An already flat popular culture is stretched out again to create a spatial installation using different kinds of materials and mediums. Hollerud takes a closer look at what happens to our own experience when the visual imagery takes control of the whole room and surrounds the audience rather than be limited to small images with a comfortable physical distance.
