Purpose of the residency
I would imagine that migrants are multi-layered cultural islands as subject. Without any uniquely discovery of self in others, there is danger while their socializing and sharing dreams with others. During the Artist in Residence in Edinburgh, I will explore installation and narratives of myself as a woman, Japanese, and other, using fragments of archives in the local context as material. Through Fiction Archive Center (temp.), I will present the past, present, and future in daily life and suggest a new perspective.
Plan during the residency
- Research on presentation methods and cities in Scotland
- Research on history of UK and archive (National Library of Scotland etc.)
- Production and edit documents by interacting with people
- Production of installation
