Purpose of the residency
During my TOKAS Research Residency I will be re-tracing the emegent DIY radiation monitoring scene formed after the 3/11 earthquake. I am particularly interested in the formal aspect of these built devices, as well as as in the social aspect of jointly iterating on designs, and collectively forming a networked understanding of the circumstances in times of crisis.
Plan during the residency
-Document the oral history around DIY radiation monitoring efforts after 3/11
-Photograph and compare different electronic circuits built for this purpose
-Visit organizations and meeting places relevant to DIY electronic practices
-Meet local artists who use DIY electronics in their practice
-Consider new possibilities for jointly drawing electronic circuits.
