Purpose of the residency

The purpose of my stay at TOKAS residence is to create some video art pieces, in collaboration with the Japanese artist Norihito Matsumoto, to intervene the space of the exhibition Hall at Institute Cervantes that has 88 sq. meters I have been working on two lines of action; first one would be to film some Tokyo scenes to have them as the base of my future pieces, and the second one would be to work on editing some row images I have been registering during the past months from Spain and Mexico with the point of view of the Japanese city structures.

Plan during the residency

-Explore Tokyo to find out interesting scenery like horizonts, meeting points, colors of the city, etc. to get inspiration and material for my video art project.
-Learn about the woodwork of Japanese artists by visiting a work space or a museum where I can have my frist approach to the particular way of doing assemblies and polishing treatments.
-Get a closer view about the concept of arts and crafts in Japan, especially the work in ceramics. I intend to visit Nezu Museum.
-Discover the Japanese art scene by visiting art galleries and museums
-Prepare the open studio of the residence to show my work to other colleagues and visitors.
