Purpose of the residency
I have been interested in Monoha and the Japanese avant-garde. Because I can get a glimpse of their responses to art and present. I would like to meet various contemporary artists and broaden my horizons during this residency period. It will be especially helpful in developing a simple and natural artistic language. In addition, I plan to make moxibustion by casting the shape of my navel, and I will put it on fire in various parts of Japan. The moxibustion on my belly will look like a small volcanic smoke. It is a divine ordinance that cleanses the horror and fear of quiet, orderly routine. And also it asks the God of earth and sky to meet each other and to pledge life.
Plan during the residency
-Research tactile symbols, images and cleansing ritual relate to shintoism and japanese culture
-site visit (temples, tombs, galleries, museums, studios etc.)
-meet artists and art related people (include japaneses performers and avant gards), accidental art activities
-make a detail plan for a performance and installation
