Purpose of the residency

I would like to explore how individuals act, by intuition, in public and private environments; how they move in space; how they look, speak or pick up an object. This shared "language" in a community is often based on social norms and behaviors deemed acceptable. I will ask the artists who will collaborate in this project to improvise within frameworks I design, hoping to free them from habitual attitudes towards their city. Choosing specific places, times, objects and possibly events designed to trigger a reaction from collaborating artists, I will explore this "language" that ensues, and develop it into visual and narrative elements in my project. Tokyo is an ideal location for this experiment with video dance because it is rich with contrasts and intersections between the public and private; material and immaterial; traditional and avant garde, as reflected in its complex social and professional activities.

Plan during the residency

1- Developing and start the first production phase
2- scheduling to meet new artists, performers, to collaborate with in the project
3- Finding locations, managing production items
