The main focus of my stay in Tokyo is continue the research for my project "Atlas for uncertain Futures", which is a travelling project that roots itself in the characteristics of its surroundings, focusing on the texture of its environment to adequate to its research. The aim of this is to be able to encapsulate the nuances of each of the locations, observe similarities and differences, building a network of likeminded practitioners. This broad approach aims to bring together heterogeneous agents and artistic projects united by their capacity of changing, improving or even solving everyday issues, or have a radical prospect. "Atlas for uncertain Futures" explores the power of minimal gestures. It collects proposals, which are aimed at gaining free access to and control over the modes of production in the contemporary society of immaterial labour, constituting new bodies, outside of neo-liberal exploitation, as a basis of the new mode of social production. For this reason, the project focuses on the basis of collaboration, while creating a critical discourse around the role of creativity, art institutions in our current society.
- Firstly, my plan focus locate agents (artists, institutions, researchers) whose work and art projects respond to the current status of anxiety by means of technology. With this data, I will start building a platform that unites all different proposals.
- Secondly, it will start having talks and interviewing them in order to build a toolbox. Toolkits are manuals with easy and step-by-step explanations decomposing a complicated process in order to construct something. In the same way, "Atlas for uncertain Futures" enacts the democratic approach of a toolkit and dissecting the endeavour of artistic projects, explores and makes accessible the endeavour of artistic project the power underlying in the minimal gestures that they propose.
- Lastly, I will host a public event that will show my research, elaborating a critical discourse, exposing and reflecting on the necessity of creativity in times of crisis.
