Purpose of the residency
My purpose is to produce new work, while I expect it to be influenced by the context and the people surrounding me during the residence. I also expect to continue my research and understand the relation between Japan and the subject of my research.
Plan during the residency
Right now I'm investigating systems of play. In my approach, I'm focusing on two aspects of systems of play, which I consider to be inherent to every game: Abstraction and Movement. A system regulates how movement is enacted within the game, and abstract forms delineate and channel said movement (for example; a grid in the case of a board game). To develop this analysis I have chosen four contexts that offer four different approaches to this subject. One of those is the context of the playground. During my stay I will research on the subject and, based on the results of it, I will build a model of an installation and a series of sculptures.
