Purpose of the residency

The Asialink Residency will allow Raewyn personal artistic development and is a key strategy to strengthen inter-cultural exchanges between Co3 and potential partners in Japan and Asia. Being based at Tokyo Wonder Site will provide Raewyn with the opportunity to interact with artists and communities to develop a culturally significant work.
This experience has potential for Japanese artists and arts organisations to meet and connect with Raewyn, as one of Australia's artistic and cultural leaders. Co3 is currently seeking artistic and presenting partners both in Australia and internationally. Raewyn's time in Japan talking with artists and organisations will assist with progressing conversations and plans around artistic exchange within a target market.

Plan during the residency

Tokyo Wonder Site offers an ideal space and atmosphere for artistic experimentation and collaboration between Raewyn and Japanese artist Naoko Yoshimoto, maximising potential creative outcomes. Naoko will frequently visit Raewyn to continue the development of the MA concept. Over the duration of the residency, Raewyn will initiate creative investigations with Naoko through the development of interviews. Raewyn will also take the time to identify other creative partners, and begin solo movement on dancers (from Noh Theatre) through Raewyn's connection with Luca Veggetti.
Being based at Tokyo Wonder Site will immerse Raewyn in the dynamic Tokyo culture, and provide networking opportunities with Japanese creatives, arts organisations and presenters. With Naoko's support, Raewyn will take the opportunity to meet with Japanese presenters and curators.
