In the previous exhibition I curated, Living in an Out-of-Place, the works presented the concern of housing issues in modern society, which is a reflection of recent urban renewal problems in Taiwan. To most of metropolitans in the world, justice in housing had been a problematic issue for long. We all suffer from the stress of capital-oriented consumerism and poor social welfare system. Exhibition was aimed to review our position in the social structure. I continue research the modern society's living pattern, and would like to interview some Japanese artists whose works are also related in housing/living/being issues. And would like to have collaboration with Japanese creators in future exhibitions.
In the international residence project this time, Tokyo Wonder Site is my first priority to conduct research project. I prepared a list of creators I want to interview in Japan. When having interviews I will ask the artists, curators to recommend creators they think I should know, it's important for me to include the local points of view. It will enrich the diversity of In-residence stage. After the condensed 3 weeks of residence, I will invite Japanese creators to have collaboration in further exhibition. In Post-residence stage I want to enlarge the experience of having residence, it should not be one direction experience. Through collaboration with local creators, I would like to turn it into mutual exchange. Invite Japan-based creators to intervene Taiwan's art scene, so as to continue the influence of cultural exchange.
