Purpose of the residency
My goal during the residency is to develop a new body of work, but most importantly to interact with artists during my stay. Art is for sharing. And I would like to come to the Tokyo Wonder Site Residency to share my work and have other artists share their work with me. I just see the city of Tokyo as a logic path for my work and experience. The combination of the rich culture, the busy city, the graphic lines of the architecture, the roughness but mostly the subtlety of its arts and spirit: I want to be submerged by all this at once and bring my work to a new level.
Plan during the residency
In my past work, I have been mainly documenting culture and society on different angles and aspects photographically. I intend to spend the first part of my residency getting immersed as much as possible by the city, the people, the culture. I want to find the Tokyo that is not obvious. When I find a subject, or a theme I want to explore, I will invest myself in it fully, with the goal to develop a new body of work, and hopefully expend my vision, also on an esthetic level. By interacting with the other residents, I hope to start artistic collaborations and discover new means of expression.
