Purpose of the residency
Interested in investigating Dream Island, the garbage re-cycling precincts in and around Tokyo. Collecting waste and converting it. Looking at systems that are in place to facilitate the disposal of garbage for such an enormous population. The notions of usage and the pre-determined use of an object, and subverting that use. I also want to be of service during my residency and will be wearing a clean up uniform, and will be interacting with dirty areas on site.
Plan during the residency
I document and collect detritus, in a multitude of ways. Through drawing, photography, video and other mediums, I plan to research Dream Island, where Tokyo's waste is being converted into landfill.
