An improvisational dialogue and audio collage of acoustic misunderstandings and semanto-phonetic morphologies for self-made sensor instruments, live voice, SuperCollider and Google translate. Acoustic accidents that are waiting to happen in daily communication are explored live, weaving through the aural and semantic modes of multiple languages. For two players.

Profile

Mari Matsutoya

, born 1983 Tokyo, Japan. Currently studying fine arts and generative arts at the University of Arts Berlin, formerly under Gregor Schneider and currently under Via Lewandowsky and Olafur Eliasson, working in the field of installation, performance, sculpture and sound. Holding a degree in German literature, her interest in language and linguistics is apparent in her work.

Annie Goh

, born 1984 Birmingham, UK. Active as an artist, researcher and musician, she holds an MA in Sound Studies from the University of Arts Berlin and a degree in Generative Art. Currently, she is a research fellow with Alberto de Campo in Computational Art. Recent exhibitions and performances include NGBK, Ars Electronica, Leap Berlin, NK, Heidelberger Kunstverein.
The collaboration started in 2010 with a common interest in language and sound, and since its first performances, Morpholexical Ping Pong has been performed at venues such as Mindpirates (Berlin), NK (Berlin), Uferstudios (Berlin), FEED Soundspace (Berlin), General Public (Berlin) and Echoraum (Vienna).
