Isabel de Sena is a freelance curator and writer currently based in Berlin. She obtained a Research M.A. (Hons.) in Art History from Leiden University Centre for the Arts in Society (2016), with a thesis on absurdity in contemporary art which she completed under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Caroline van Eck (2016 Professor in History of Art, Cambridge University; 2017 Slade Professor, Oxford University). Isabel has curated various exhibitions, including 'ab-surdus. Via Lewandowsky: A Case-Study' (2014, MOMENTUM Berlin), as well as 'BALAGAN!!! Contemporary Art from the Former Soviet Union and Other Mythical Places' (2015, various venues Berlin, Hamburg, Dresden), for which she was Assistant Curator to Prof. David Elliott. She has published in various peer-reviewed academic journals, including View. Theories and Practices of Visual Culture and European Journal of Humour Research, and in exhibition catalogues, such as 'Jokebook' (2015, nGbK Neue Gessellschaft für Bildende Kunst, Berlin).
