OGAWA Rumi

Profile

Born in Tokyo, Rumi Ogawa first studied percussion under Michiko Takahashi at the
Tokyo University of the Arts. Since 1978 she has been living in Germany, where she did
additional studies under Bernhard Wulff. While studying, she gathered experiences in classical and modern music--mainly at the "Basel Radio-Orchester" and the "Saarländische Rundfunk Orchester." She has been a member of Ensemble Modern since 1981 and is working continuously on building and expanding the group. She was also a guest of many different orchestras and ensembles both in Germany and abroad, and often performed as a soloist.
