MITSUI Shizuka

Profile

Born in Aichi prefecture 1984. Moved to France from 2009 to 2011 after graduated from faculty of Oil painting in Aichi Prefectural University of the Fine Arts and Music. Currently studying in M.F.A of Oil painting, Tokyo National University of the Arts. 

Her awarded competitions are "Tokyo Wonder Wall 2013, Tokyo Wonder Wall Prize"(2013, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo), "The 10th Morikazu Kumagai Grand Prix Exhibition, Grand Prize"(2013, Tsukechi Art Plaza), "Sompo Japan Art Award FACE 2014, the Jury's Special Award"(2013, Seiji Togo Memorial Sompo Japan Museum of Art) and etc.

Her recent exhibitions are "study 01 -drawing-"(2012, Gallery Shibuya), "Tokyo Wonder Wall 2013"(2013, Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo), "CIRCLE3" (2013, TURNER GALLERY) and etc.

In addition to this, she also showcased her works in overseas such as "THE GIRLS FROM KYOTO AND OTHER JAPANESE CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS"(2009, Armory show vip event N.Y CITY ST REGIS HOTEL, New York） and "That's why we go out to travel."（2010, Espace des arts sans frontière, Paris）.

For her upcoming solo exhibition, "project 56 N" has been scheduled to hold at the Art Gallery of Tokyo Opera City starting from April 19, 2014.
