Profile

Christian Hommel studied oboe with Heinz Holliger in Freiburg and piano under James
Avery. He was awarded at the international music competitions in Geneve and Triest
and was also awarded the "Preis des Deutschen Musikrates" and the "Förderpreis der
Mozart-Gesellschaft Wiesbaden" among others. He is also professor at the "Hochschule
für Künste" in Bremen, and regularly teaches at international masterclasses. He
has recorded numerous CDs of which some have been awarded the "Preis der Deutschen
Schallplattenkritik".
