Profile

My name is Reem Al-Zamel and I am of a mixed race; British and Kuwaiti. I have traveled and lived in the U.S., U.K. and also the Middle East, which has been such an eye opener for me as a person and in the art/design world. Having experienced various cultures has allowed me to be an open minded character and I enjoy being inspired by others who know more than I do. I have recently completed my Masters in Interior & Spatial Design and I am currently living in London. The Masters was a course that provided me with useful skills, both manually and physically and am glad to have taken part in it. I am interested in many aspects of design, particularly Interiors and Architecture always fascinate me.

About works / performance

My most recent, completed project was the Masters which involved the subject of Sustainability, Memory and Commemoration. The finalized, Architectural structure was a built construction of an embedded pier, created into the depths of the South Coast Cliffs in Birling Gap, U.K. Within the pier, individualized huts are connected and these respond to the loss of the local tenant's belongings, which in time, breaks through the cliffs and reveal their state, gaining a sense of revenge from the sea which created their disappearance. (Please see attached jpeg image of project).
