OPEN SITE 8 |【TOKAS Recommendation Program】
A VR project directed by Hong Kong filmmaker Tsang Tsui-shan, in collaboration with ifva and Hong Kong Arts Centre. The film combines installation, cinematic art, dance performance and virtual space to tell the love story of two dancers, Wong Thien-Pau Ix and Khek Ah-Hock Aaron. It presents philosophical and realistic themes such as life and death, homosexuality, LGBTQIA+, illness and loneliness. Apart from questioning the boundary between real and virtual, the work reflects on the relationship between art and technology.

Born in 1978. Lives and works in Hong Kong. For filmmaker Tsang Tsui-Shan, the transition to immersive storytelling was inspired by content. Her documentary Ward 11 which she won the 25th ifva silver award, features the dancing duo of Wong Thien-Pau Ix (Malaysia), and his longtime partner and fellow dancer Khek Ah-Hock Aaron (Singapore). After Hock died in 2019, seeing Ix's deep and abiding love, which has endured beyond his partner’s lifetime, made Tsang to use technology as a bridge between the worlds of the living and the dead, to retell their love story in a different dimension.
