Mrs Ishi, the last living woman, tries to understand and make peace with her dying culture through a series of film diaries that gradually reveal to us the post-human nature of her futuristic world. The artifacts of her time and our own take on a peculiar poignancy as old letters, corroded metals and strange half-animal machines are used to evoke themes of loss, aging, decay, and transcendence. Overlapping videos and objects will bear witness to the last days of human dominance on Earth.

Aleksandra Niemczyk
|Born in Poland, 1977. Painter and filmmaker currently based in Oslo. She recently premiered her debut feature film, Baba Vanga, at Nowe Horyzonty Film Festival in Wrocław, a project completed under the mentorship of Béla Tarr during her MFA in Filmmaking in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In her film and expanded media work, Niemczyk pursues themes such as decay, survival, memory, and human culture, through a distinctive personal cinematic language that is as informed by dream logic and mythology as by her background as a painter of abstract forms.
