Implemented since the establishment of Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS) in 2001 in accordance with the institution’s aim to support young artists, "TOKAS-Emerging" is a public program that has been targeting Japanese resident creators aged 35 or younger, and offering selected artists opportunities to exhibit their works.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS) established the Tokyo Contemporary Art Award (TCAA) in 2018 as a contemporary art prize to encourage mid-career artists to make new breakthroughs in their work by providing them with two years of continuous support.
An award exhibition will be held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo featuring Kazama Sachiko and Shitamichi Motoyuki, the winners of the inaugural TCAA.
Since 2006, Tokyo Arts and Space (TOKAS) has been implementing the “Creator-in-Residence” residency program, which offers opportunities for creators active in various disciplines including visual art, design, and curation to stay and create works in Tokyo or at various overseas destinations.
In this exhibition, 5 artists who participated in our residency program present the art that emerged from ideas and insights deepened through their research.
